Making a Marriage Work

My friend posted this article on her blog here (http://tenacioustaylors.blogspot.com/) and I thought it was a very good article full of little reminders on how to make a marriage work. The actual article is kind of long but I've highlighted the top 10 Keys. If you'd like to read the whole thing here is the link:

4. Do not smother each other with excessive restrictions.
5. Compliment each other sincerely and often.
6. Never resort to the silent treatment.
7. Say, “I’m sorry,” and really mean it.
8. Never turn to a third party in time of trouble.
9. Retain the joy in your marriage.
10. Pray often.

My St. George Weekend

Last weekend I decided to make a quick trip down to St. George. My mom and sister were both on spring break and my grandma was going to be in town so I decided that this would be a great time to visit the family. Jordan had to work so he didn't get to go with me this time, but hopefully he will be able to come next time.

I left early thursday morning so that I could be in St. George around the time that my family wanted to leave for Las Vegas, which was 12:00. I drove the whole 6 hours by myself, which gets pretty boring. But, I finally made it to my destination. When I got to St. George I changed clothes, met up with my family in town and headed down to Las Vegas, Nevada.

When we got to Las Vegas we went straight into shopping. We went to the fashion show mall, which is right on the strip. We all had a blast and got a lot of fun new stuff. After we were done shopping we grabbed a quick bite at the food court and then headed over to the Cheesecake factory for some desert. We each got a different type of cheesecake to try, and I loved them all! After that we headed to Mesquite where we met up with my Aunt Brenda and some of her friends. The Adult gambled for a couple of hours while Emma and I hung out in the casino cafe. We had a lot of fun hanging out with our family, shopping, and enjoying yummy cheesecake.

The next day Emma and Reno had to work so my mom, my dad, and I went down to St. George to hang out. We had dinner at Durangos, and then went to a movie, Red Riding Hood, at Stadium 10 Theaters. The movie was actually a lot better than we all had expected which was a good thing.

On Saturday we decided to have a little picnic and go shooting. We even had a shooting competition and I was the winner :)

Then Sunday I packed up all of my things and headed on back to Logan. I had a lot of fun in St. George with the family but I was happy to be home with my sweet husband again. :)

A Few Fun Facts

1. What is your dream job?
My Dream job would have to be a stay at home wife and mother. My second choice would definitely be a middle or high school counselor, considering that's what I'm going to school for :)

2. How do you take your tea or coffee?
I don't usually drink tea or coffee, but on the rare occasion that I do drink tea it's usually green tea with 3 sugars.

3. What is your most important beauty secret?
Always use a primer or protectant before anything else. If you prime your face before using make-up it usually goes on a lot smoother and lasts a lot longer. And, if you use a heat protectant before blow drying, straightening, or curling your hair it will be a lot healthier, and grow longer (in theory, but mine never seems to get very long)

4. If you had an all-expense paid vacation to go anywhere, where would you go?
I would probably go on a European tour. I've been to a few countries in Europe but there is always more to see and do :)

5. If you could have three wish what would they be?
-To never have to worry about money or finances
-To not have to worry about weight, just naturally be healthy
-To have more wishes :)

6. If you could only have one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I would probably want pizza or Texas Road House..YUM!

7. What one talent do you wish you had?
I wish I could sing, I am terrible at keeping a beat, reading music, and just about anything musical.

8. Who is your biggest celebrity crush?
Vin Diesel...Always has and probably always will be :)

9. If you could look into the future, would you?
Probably not because I believe that everything happens for a reason, so if I would what was going to happen then the future wouldn't be near as exciting.

10. What made you start a blog?
I started my blog when Jordan and I first got engaged so that I would have a journal of all the fun adventures we go on, because I'm not very good at keeping a handwritten journal. I also started it so that my friends and family in other parts of the world could keep up on how we are doing :)

Viva Las Vegas for Valentines!

Who: Jordan, Trissa (Jordan's Mom), and I
What: The Phantom of the Opera Play
Where: The Phantom Theater at the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada
When: Sunday February 13 until Tuesday February 15, 2011
Why: Jordan's older brother Skyler received ticket to The Phantom of the Opera in Las Vegas, Nevada for Christmas, and the tickets were for Valentines Day/Their 1 Year anniversary. A couple of days before Skyler and his wife were going to leave for Las Vegas they had a little bit of an accident with their car. The cost of repair on their car took up all of the money that they were going to use to go to Las Vegas, so they were unable to go. They decided that instead of letting the tickets go to waste they would give them to us :) Trissa had also received a ticket to go to the show for her birthday, so we all decided to go down together :)
How: We drove down on Sunday February 13 at around 9:00am and came back on Tuesday February 15, 2011

While we were there we also were able to go to Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, the Coca Cola and M&M Factories, The Dooney and Bourke Store, The Largest Gift Shop on the Strip, In and Out Burger, enjoy yummy cupcakes, and walk around the Las Vegas Strip. Even though it was a quick trip we all had a lot of fun.

The Phantom of the Opera show, the main reason for going down to Vegas, was phenomenal! I loved all of the props and different scene changes that they used. I also loved how realistic they made everything, even the water scene. I thought that the acting and singing was fantastic as well! It was actually kind of like a magic show and play/opera all wrapped into one. There was no intermission, which I thought was kind of strange, but other than that it was definitely one of the best plays that I have ever seen.
